2023-q1

The image viewer has a new regions-of-interest menu, with automatic difference detection that is faster and offers several diff metrics. Text diffs can jump from one change to the next, and the backend moved to Python 3.11.

New regions-of-interest viewer

A "View ROIs" menu in the image viewer switches between the full image, the ROI presets from your input metadata, and automatically detected differences with the reference. It always offers the full image and keeps a stable layout.

Faster automatic diffs, with more metrics

Finding regions of interest is faster and no longer runs out of memory on huge images. You can pick the difference metric (YIQ, SSIM, CIE 1976, CIE 1994 or CIE 2000), and the last one used is remembered.

Navigate text diffs

The text viewer jumps to the first difference with the reference, has a "Next Diff" button, and says when both files have the same content.

Web app

  • is_failed metrics are now shown, including for failed runs.
  • Wider sections on wide screens, clearer error messages, and no more empty tooltips.

CLI and project setup

  • Runs now get the batch label as QA_LABEL, and their QA-Board ID as context.id.
  • Configurations can be null.
  • Redoing a run from the web app now reuses the original output directory.

Server and administration

  • The backend image now uses Python 3.11 on a newer OS.
  • The web app is built with a multi-stage Dockerfile, for faster builds and smaller images. Compose files pick the development or production target.
  • The bundled Cantaloupe image server is no longer started by the default docker compose setup, in favor of an image server running separately.
  • The backend trusts every git repository it clones (safe.directory), avoiding errors with recent git versions.

Fixes

  • Fixed errors when the reference output was deleted.
  • Fixed "same data" being shown too often in the file viewers.
